General Plan

I am going to take four of the same pots for my plants and fill all of them with the same amount of water and soil. Then I will put the same amount or seeds in each pot and put them in the same area with the same amount of sunlight for all of them. After I will play music for two of the plants and leave the other two pots with plants without music.

Background Research

A lot experiments have been done to see the effect of music to the growth of a plant. Does music help a plant grow? Many things have been done and it has become a very interesting subject. This experiment will show if music effects plant growth or not. Some sites explain that plants do enjoy music and sound to make them grow quickly and get taller. They say that if you play music for your plant you can take better care of it. Plant growers claim that Classical Music helps plants grow better then any other kind of music. Plants like carbon dioxide. If you stand by a plant and singto it, it is going to absorb some carbon dioxide from your breath. This could help it to grow more quickly.

Detailed Procedure

1. First you will need four of the same size plant pot.
2. Then I will put them all on the same window sill.
3. Then you have to add in each pot the same amount of dirt.
4. Then I will put five seeds in each pot.
5. After I will cover each seed with soil on top.
6. Next I will put the same amount of water in each pot.
7. Finally you take your iPod and put on head phone in one pot and the other in the second pot.

Data Analysis

I collected data over 15 days and it shows that the plants treated with music had a better growth rate then without. Each day the plants with music was more then the plants without.

Conclusion

After testing the plants with music and plants without music for ten days I came to a conclusion. The plants that were being treated by music had a better growth rate then the plants without.

Discussion: The data that I took shows that the growth rate for the plants with the effect of music. After collecting all the data I found that music effected plants had a better growth rate then untreated plants. To answer the experiment question I was able to collect the data and find the answer to my broad question. There was no problems collect any of my data, it was a pretty easy proses. My data can show others how to get a better growth rate for their plants while the growing proses is in place. It also show the sound and vibration increases growth rate. I could improve my experiment by testing the experiment for a longer period of time to get more results. This can help society grow better and bigger plants.

Now with the Community knowing that sound and music increases plant growth more people will play music for their plants to increases the growth of them.

Abstract

My question was does music affect plant growth? I hypothesized that the plants would growth better with the affect of music. Some sites say that plants do enjoy music and sound and it makes them grow better. Some say that if you play music for your plant you can take better care of it during the growing proses. Plant growers said that Classical Music helps plants the best. My procedure is to take four of the same sized pots and fill them with the same amount of soil. I marked two of the pots "Music" and left the other two the same.
My project is based on many studies that people have done in the past. It was known that music and sound increase the growth of plants. My project is to prove or disprove that plants growth rate increases with music as a variable. I took the same kind of plant and planted about 15 seeds of Winter Rye in each pot. Two of the pots I am was testing was with music playing during growing time. The other two pots are growing without music playing for them. Therefore when I am done testing which increases growth rate in plants that will be my conclusion.
